How Do Last Minute Event Tickets Work?

When there is enough time, tickets are usually being physically sent to the customer’s address either by standard mail (United States Postal Service) or by one of the major courier services, like FedEx, UPS or DHL.

However, when time is pressing and there is no sufficient time for physical shipping or on the weekends, when courier deliveries for Saturday or Sunday events are not always possible, there are alternative options which vary from one event (or ticker reseller) to another.
These options fall under the umbrella of ‘Near-Term Special Delivery’ and they enable the customer to attend the event, even if it occurs on the very same day the order is placed.

Here are the common options for last minute ticket sales:

• Electronic Delivery
  
  Tickets are sent directly to the customer’s email digitally (usually, as PDF file attachments) or can be accessed through their account on the broker website, where they can be viewed, downloaded, instantly printed and brought to the event for admission.
  In many cases, those e-tickets are available for printing immediately after the online purchase or within a very short while, making it a very quick and flexible option for people who wish to attend a show as soon as tonight.
  

• Will Call
  
  A common last-minute delivery method that enables the customer to pick up the tickets right at the venue’s box office window prior to the show or game, on the actual day of the event, an hour or two before it begins – in most cases.
  In order to pick up the tickets, the customer is often required to present a valid photo ID, the credit card that was used to buy the tickets and the online order confirmation number.
  

• Local Pickup
  
  Tickets will be available for local pickup at a location specified by the seller.
  Pick-up locations may include the office of the ticket agency or an alternative place in the general area of the venue, such as a nearby hotel, shopping mall, restaurant, cafe, etc.

Many sports fans, concert goers and theater lovers ask themselves the same question: will ordering the tickets at the very last minute save them some money off the regular costs or will it actually make them more expensive.
The answer to this question is not always clear and often depends on several factors – however, the most important criteria is obviously supply and demand.

Obtaining tickets for an extremely popular show or a sold out event, can be extremely difficult and expensive, so in most cases it’s not particularly realistic to find any genuine bargains on such a short notice.
However, when it comes to events that are not in high demand, there’s a much better chance to get a great inexpensive discount deal at a reduced low price, even if you buy the tickets on the same day of the show or game, just a few hours before they start.
